Aidsnet's current members


Aidsnet's strength lies in its mix of different members with a common goal. The member organiastions' diverse background and resources and the fact that they choose to get involved in joint activities and continued dialogue is the glue of the network and what makes it effective.  

 

The network consists of three types of members:

  1. International development and relief NGOs
  2. Danish HIV/AIDS organisations
  3. Research institutions 

Aidsnet has at present 26 members which are:

  • Ulandssekretariatet (The LO/FTF Council - Danish Trade Union Council for International Development and Co-operation), Danish trade union's relief organisation supporting projects in developing countries aimed at developing trade union movements' capacity building, education, working environment and role in society, www.ulandssekretariatet.dk
  • Ungdommmens Røde Kors (Danish Red Cross Youth), independent youth organisation under Danish Red Cross doing voluntary social and humanitarian work for vulnerable children and young people, www.urk.dk

 

Aidsnet's members represent a wide range of experiences and competencies within e.g.:

  • HIV/AIDS prevention, support, care and treatment in the South and in Denmark.
  • Advocacy in Denmark and the South.
  • Multimedia information.
  • Poverty-related development interventions aimed at particularly vulnerable groups and their access to influence, education and resources.
  • Scientific research within public health, medicine, sociology and anthropology in relation to HIV/AIDS.
  • Capacity building of partner organisations.
  • Gender-based analysis abd development work as well as final  capacity building of various types of cooperation organisations.
  • Finally, a number of our member organisations act as umbrella organisations for other Danish organisations or are themselves members of larger international popular, chuch-based, ecumenical or political network.
