Positive Vibes is a communication initiative based on new knowledge about the situation of people living with HIV.

This session brings researchers and NGOs together in order to discuss how to combine research activities with the daily HIV and AIDS activities.

1: The workshop’s part one will focus on the impact of stigma, discrimination and self-stigmatisation on the quality of life of people living with HIV. Stigma is very often a real and perceived obstacle to the prevention, care and treatment of people living with HIV. “Labels matter” as they often evoke a wide range of reactions from individuals, groups, communities or even nations. This is the case in Namibia as well as in Denmark and these two innovative studies present new data on the situation.

2: The second part of the workshop will focus on methodologies. The aim is to explore areas of common interest to the NGOs as well as the researches. As an example films produced by children in the ‘Children’s Voices approach of Positive Vibes and the information gained during the process are valuable research material. And to the NGOs and CBOs the daily work with people living with and affected by HIV allows an unique access to these often-marginalised and hidden communities.

3: The aim of the third part of the workshop is to discuss possibilities for future co-operation. It will be possible to divide the workshop according to interests of the participants. During a workshop in Johannesburg in April Positive Vibes will compile different research priorities for discussion at the research seminar in Copenhagen. These themes will be forwarded to participants before the workshop.
